Irregular facets and chunky handmade ‘rocks’ form the backbone of my work. The natural environment and the components in it constantly inspire me; mainly rocks, crystals and rock heavy landscapes. I am drawn to their individual aspects, largely their texture, colours', size and the irregular angled facets in naturally occurring. In my research I looked at a wide range of components to fully inform my making, which led me to create my own unique wearable rocks. The Leith Lapidary club introduced me to stone cutting and faceting as well as their private collection of unique rocks and crystals, this inspired my facet cutting. Regular visits to Arthurs Seat and The Craigs inspired me in terms of size and the daunting power rock heavy landscapes hold. These aspects combined led me to create large scale jewellery with handmade resin‘rocks’ through which I was able to dictate the colours, size and textures, creating truly unique resin shapes, using crushed or whole crystals, stones or pearl to add natural colour. I have a keen interest in fashion and aimed to create high fashion large-scale jewellery for the bold.
